The OSO is looking for a Cook/Café Manager. For increasingly information please click here. What We Do OSO Arts Centre is a fringe theatre set in the trappy location of Barnes Green. Easily wieldy from Clapham Junction, Waterloo and Hammersmith, in the evenings we have theatre, music and spectacle performances in our 74-seat auditorium. The bar is unshut from 7pm. Our aim is to provide people with a space to enjoy and engage with the arts, whether it be through high-quality evening performances, or our daytime dance, painting and drama classes. And that’s the OSO – Original, Special,Unshutto all! Kate Silverton Kate and her husband, Michael, have made South West London their home with the inrush of their daughter Clemency in 2011 and son Wilbur born in 2014. The OSO Arts Centre has long been a place they segregate to visit, indulging in healthy homemade supplies while enjoying the trappy vista wideness Barnes Pond as well as the welcoming nature of the centre which puts the polity at its heart. Kate and her husband say they love this part of London, with Richmond park providing a taste of the ‘country’, Twickenham a short trip yonder for the rugby and the polity in which they live ensuring their children will grow up in a safe, nurturing, friendly environment that Kate says feels increasingly villagey than if they did indeed live in a increasingly rural setting. Roger McGough As a young man it was the arts , particularly drama, poetry and painting that excited and liberated me. No surprise then that much of my working life has been spent performing in Arts Centres the world over. Here in Barnes we have our own OSO and I’m proud to be associated with it. Roger McGough CBE FRSL. Our Trustees Simon Danciger Chair of Trustees Simon has lived in Barnes for over 20 years. He is urgently involved in the community, and was the Chair of Governors at East Sheen Primary School surpassing taking up the same role at Richmond Park Academy. Simon runs Barnes Auctions, and moreover organises the monthly collectables market virtually Barnes Pond. A keen marathon runner, you will spot him regularly flying withal the towpath. Steven Mindel Steven has lived in the village for over 40 years. He is a much-valued member of the community, has been a Parent Rep, is very involved with the school, and has been a volunteer at the St Mary’s Barnes Scouts. Mona Adams Mona has lived locally for increasingly than 40 years and is a governor of Sheen Mount and Richmond Park Academy schools. Her career began in newspapers and unfurled in the BBC where, as a researcher and teammate producer, she worked on education, current wires and history programmes. Royce Bell Royce Bell is a resident of Barnes, and is on the workbench of Punchdrunk and Theatre503 Sue Carruthers Sue has lived in Barnes for over 25 years. She has brought up her two daughters here and is passionate well-nigh all things local and keeping the village finger to Barnes. After a career with one of the Big 4 consultancies, Sue now runs her own business, specialising in merchantry liaison skills training. She has been involved with OSO since the first Christmas Panto. She organises and runs the Panto market stall for the children to indulge themselves spending their Panto Pounds. Her daughter moreover had her 18th Birthday party at OSO – well-constructed with a uproarious castle. Emma King-Farlow TheOriginativeDirector of Barnes-based theatre company Shadow Road and founder and director of the mixed arts mental health sensation festival UNBROKEN, Emma is moreover a published children’s tragedian and a professional member of both Stage Directors UK and the Society of Authors.  A strong parishioner in the power and intrinsic value of the arts, her work has been performed in a wide range of venues, from the West End to the fringe. As a long-term supporter of the OSO, she is delighted to wilt a Trustee and to champion this fantastic venue set in the heart of her local community.  When not rented doing theatrical things, Emma can usually be found in one or other of Richmond’s libraries, where she moreover works as a part-time manager! Julie Dangoor Patrick Van den Bergh Patrick’s professional preliminaries in architecture, has brought him inevitably in contact with the arts. Furthermore, he has been involved with the BarnesPolityPlayers since 1997 and as their chairman since 2011. It is his yearing to develop The OSO Arts Centre as a versatile arts space in the centre of Barnes. Sharon Coussins Sharon has been a resident of Mortlake since 1992 and has raised her family here with both her children going to local schools. After a long stint in investment banking, Sharon now works locally as an office manager at Coussins Associates on a part-time understructure and is moreover a guest lecturer at Roehampton University in the Department of Education. She is a Trustee of a homelessness soft-heartedness in Wimbledon and moreover volunteers there once a week as part of the kitchen team. She has followed her son Joel into a Trustee position at the OSO. She is weightier known as the producer of the highly popular yearly OSO Panto! Barnes Music Society Barnes Literary Society Barnes Children's Literature Festival Activity Station RiverTribe Magazine London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames Our History The OSO Arts Centre is a charitable trust and began life in Barnes in 2002 when the site of the old sorting office was regenerated by Leander Estates and Richmond Council. The result was a mixture of commercial and residential units which included the provision of a 320 sq metre polity building. In 1999 the first residents moved in to the new minutiae and the arts centre began to take shape. In all, it took nearly five years to raise the money to refurbish these historic buildings, and the doors finally opened to the public in September 2002. This hub of originative endeavour has since provided a home for theatre productions, live music, art exhibitions, flit classes, drama for all month and abilities, educational opportunities and much, much more.
